Nashville Mayor Karl Dean is challenging and inspiring Nashville residents to be more physically active. Thousands of Nashvillians “stepped up to the challenge” in each of the last two years, including more than 5,000 in each of the first two years, by participating in the Mayor’s Challenge 5K Walk/Run and Kids' Fun Run - the city’s only free 5K event with a free six-week training program offered through Metro Parks & Recreation. As one of Mayor Dean’s most popular health events to date, the Mayor’s Challenge 5K brings out Nashvillians of all ages and fitness levels to walk and run the streets of downtown Nashville. The event also includes a Kids’ Fun Run, a 0.75-mile course for children 12 years of age and under.

The fourth annual Mayor’s Challenge 5K Walk/Run and Kids’ Fun Run will be held on Sunday, Nov. 9, 2014, starting at Public Square Park outside the Metro Courthouse. Activities start at noon. The Kids’ Fun Run begins at 2 p.m. The 5K begins at 2:15 p.m. Participants are encouraged to arrive at least one hour before their start time. Participation is completely free and individuals of all ages and fitness levels are encouraged to join.

It’s time for Nashvillians to get healthy and stay healthy, and it’s more fun if we do it together. Register for the fourth annual Mayor’s Challenge 5K today!
