"From Pathology to Promise"

On November 13, 2013, The Women’s Fund of The Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee will host its second in a series of educational forums on human sex trafficking in our state. The 2012 Women’s Fund Forum was a great success and provided the local community with an overview of the prevalence and seriousness of this horrendous crime within our own state’s borders.

This year we plan to expand on that discussion by connecting the dots and delving into the societal reasons that young women end up being trafficked and what we can do to help prevent this terrible cycle.

We hope you will join us at Lipscomb University’s Ezell Center during the lunch hour for a light meal and conversation, to strategize how we, as a community, can take steps to improve the lives of teenage girls across our state and help stop human sex trafficking.

The Forum will include a panel discussion with knowledgeable individuals who have unique perspectives on this issue, especially as it relates to the ways that young women become victims of sex trafficking. The panel will include law enforcement members, children’s advocates, and state government officials.

We hope that you will be further enlightened and leave us with specific ideas about how you, as a community leader, can work to address this serious issue in our community.
