Nashville, TN 37203
The Brooks Fund of The Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee and Nashville Public Television invite you to watch the premiere of A Secret Only God Knows, a documentary chronicling the lives of gay, transgender, and bisexual residents, reflecting on life in Middle Tennessee before 1970. It is part of The Brooks Fund History Project.
The documentary will air numerous times in Middle Tennessee on Nashville's PBS station, Nashville Public Television (NPT-8 and NPT 2). NPT2 is available over-the-air on 8.2, on Comcast Channel 241 and Charter Cable channel 191.
The Brooks Fund History Project is a diverse multimedia record of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender (LGBT) life in Middle Tennessee, which is archived in Nashville Public Library’s Special Collections Division: Oral History Collections. This collection, accessible to the public, provides a record of an earlier generation that struggled for acceptance with themselves, their family and community. Since spring 2009, multiple interviews have been conducted chronicling the lives of gay, transgender and bisexual residents, reflecting on life in Middle Tennessee before 1970, and how homosexuality was viewed in the larger community. Those interviews have now been compiled into a documentary film directed by Deidre Duker.
Nashville Public Television air dates are as follows:
