Mayors Challenge 5K Walk/Run
Sunday, November 17, 2013
Nashville
1 Public Square Nashville
Save the date for the third annual Mayor’s Challenge 5K Walk/Run and Kids’ Fun Run on Sunday, Nov. 17, 2013 at Public Square Park in Downtown Nashville. This free event drew more than 5,000 participants last year and is part of Mayor Karl Dean’s efforts to promote active, healthy living.
Activities start at noon. The Kids’ Fun Run begins at 2:00pm. The 5K begins at 2:15pm. Participants are encouraged to arrive at least one hour before their start time. Participation is completely free and individuals of all ages and fitness levels are encouraged to join.
Over 5,000 Nashvillians “stepped up to the challenge” in each of the last two years by participating in the Mayor’s Challenge 5K Walk/Run – the city’s only free 5K event with a free eight-week training program offered through Metro Parks & Recreation. As Mayor Dean’s most popular health event to date, the Mayor’s Challenge 5K brings out Nashvillians of all ages and fitness levels to walk and run the streets of downtown Nashville. The event also includes a Kids’ Fun Run, a 0.75-mile course for children 12 years of age and under.
